Effective managers and AI transformation

Over my long career, I’ve worked with all kinds of managers, each with a completely different take on what the job actually means.

Some of them were really cool people, working in close synergy with their teams. But as business demands grew, they were often replaced by “effective” managers - the ones whose main strategy is pushing harder, demanding more, meeting the targets, while ignoring the mental health of their teams.

And here is the issue: if a manager’s role is reduced to tracking KPIs, monitoring output and enforcing deadlines, company bosses will eventually ask: Why do we need a manager for this when AI can do the job?

Maybe this is where management will have to change. Managers should be the ones who can build trust, understand people, deal with conflicts, make difficult decisions and create an environment where people actually want to do their best work. They should become true leaders.

As a conslution, remember:
AI may replace managers - but only if they manage like machines.
